FREE ANYTIME minutes on your cell phone - geeky method.
Warning: This is SUPER geeky. Time to kiss up to a geek to help you out if you want to do this. You remember ... the guys that you and everyone else laughed at in high school who now make all the money.
Yes, it is possible with some persistence ... and lots of technical know how ...
Here is the theory behind it.
Here is a sample implementation.
It is all based on what phone numbers you can call for free (i.e., "MyFaves", "Friends & Family", etc) and caller id. More details.
There are some commercial services out there that can do the heavy (technical) lifting for you ... MasterOfCheap will post the ones we find.
Super EASY way to get FREE ANYTIME minutes on your cell phone!!!
(This requires that your Cell phone plan has a "MyFavs" (T-Mobile); "Friends & Family" (ATT), "Sprint To Home" (SprintPCS) where your cell phone provider allows you to designate one or more phone numbers that permit you unlimited calls to/from for FREE or for a set fee!!)
FREE INBOUND- Signup here for a FREE Google Voice Account. Note: it may take from a few hours to a few days for Google to grant you the free account.
- Configure your Google Voice (GV) to show you GV account phone number for every Call:
- Add your Google Voice phone number to your MyFavs/Friends&Family/Sprint To Home.
- Give EVERYONE your Google Voice phone number to call you. All calls coming into your phone that show the GV Caller ID should now be FREE. If they call you directly to your cell phone this WILL NOT work. If the CallerID shows you Google Voice number, that's good; if it shows their actual number, they called you directly!
- If you have Unlimited Data on your plan, use the Google Voice website to initiate all your outbound calls
o Settings / Call Tab / Caller ID "Display my Google Voice number"
FREE OUTBOUND
o Since GV will call you first and then connects you the party you are calling --> your outbound Calls can be FREE as well!
